Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Chama System

What is a Chama?

A Chama is a traditional Kenyan savings group where members contribute money regularly and take turns receiving the pooled funds. Our platform digitizes this concept, allowing groups to save for specific products.

How is the product distributed?

After each complete contribution cycle (when all members have paid), one member receives their product. The order is determined by joining order - first to join receives first, second to join receives second, etc.

How are payments verified?

When you make a payment, you'll submit the transaction code and optional proof. An admin will verify the payment within 24 hours. You'll receive a notification once verified.

What happens if I miss a contribution?

Missed contributions are marked as overdue. You can still make the payment later, but it may delay the chama's progress. Consistent late payments may affect your membership.

Can I join a chama that's already started?

Yes! You can join active chamas as long as there are available slots. You'll be placed in the next available position and will receive the product after the members ahead of you.

How do I restart a completed chama?

Once a chama is completed, you'll see a "Restart" button. Clicking it creates a new chama with the same settings, pending admin approval.

Is my money safe?

All payments are verified by admins before being marked as paid. Transactions are tracked, and you receive notifications for every payment status change. Your money is only released to product providers after verification.

How long does admin approval take?

Chama approvals typically take 24-48 hours. Payment verifications are usually completed within 24 hours. You'll receive notifications at every step.
